IN SOUTH AFRICA TJOMMIE MEANS 'FRIEND'. CHILDREN IN TOWNSHIPS ARE EXPOSED TO VIOLENCE, ABUSE, DRUGS, UNEMPLOYMENT AND TEENAGE PREGNANCY ON A DAILY BASIS. A FRIEND WHO OFFERS HELP IS THEREFORE VITAL. TJOMMIE HAS BEEN HELPING VULNERABLE CHILDREN FOR 20 YEARS BY PROVIDING FOR THEIR BASIC NEEDS AND STIMULATING THEIR SOCIAL-EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT. TJOMMIE IS A SMALL CHARITY THAT OFFERS CHILDREN GROWING UP IN SOUTH AFRICAN TOWNSHIPS THE SUPPORT THEY SO DESPERATELY NEED.

1 CHILD, 1 CHANCE

WITH EVERY CHILD IN POVERTY WE HAVE ONE CHANCE TO GIVE HIM OR HER A BETTER FUTURE IN AFRICA. WE START WITH THE BASICS BY GIVING VULNERABLE CHILDREN IN RURAL TOWNSHIPS ACCESS TO THE MOST BASIC NECESSITIES OF LIFE, SUCH AS CLEAN DRINKING WATER, NUTRITIOUS FOOD AND A SAFE HOME, BUT ALSO BY OFFERING SINGING, DANCING AND SPORTS ACTIVITIES.

THE PROJECTS THAT TJOMMIE SUPPORTS HAVE AN INTEGRATED APPROACH TO THE PROBLEM OF POVERTY TO HELP CHILDREN TO 'LIVE' INSTEAD OF 'SURVIVE'. IN THIS WAY WE GIVE THEM THE OPPORTUNITY TO GROW INTO INDEPENDENT AND POWERFUL YOUNG ADULTS WITH A FUTURE.
